2nd amendment of the constitution and meaning of the word “regulated”
According to Justice Scalia’s majority opinion in Heller, (“District of Columbia v. Heller (2008”) “The debate with respect to the right to keep and bear arms … was not over whether it was desirable (all agreed that it was) but over whether it needed to be codified in the Constitution.” The opinion goes on to state:
It is therefore entirely sensible that the Second Amendment’s prefatory clause announces the purpose for which the right was codified: to prevent elimination of the militia. The prefatory (1) clause (2) does not suggest that preserving the militia was the only reason Americans valued the ancient right; most undoubtedly thought it even more important for self-defense and hunting. But the threat that the new Federal Government would destroy the citizens’ militia by taking away their arms was the reason that right--unlike some other English rights--was codified in a written Constitution.
Nevertheless, the Heller majority was clear that “self-defense … was the central component of the right itself.” (Emphasis in original.)
1. (prefatory: serving to introduce something such as a main body of text or a speech)
2. Second Amendment’s prefatory clause “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state…”
3. At the time the constitution was written the term “regulate” meant to ensure something happened (make regular or to ensure it was working properly) not to restrict in any way (as is the common usage today) i.e. to regulate inter-state commerce meant to ensure inter-state commerce took place and worked in a regular way so no state would be isolated from the others or took unfair advantage of other states in regard to commerce.
For examples and definitions about the term "well regulated" and its use when the constitution was written go to the link below.
The 2nd amendment is fundamental to every other freedom "We the People" have. Don't let it be taken away; once it's gone those who refuse to give up their arms will be considered criminals. And when it's gone how will we prevent the government from taking away our other rights? Keeping the first depends on the second!
Check out the supper brochure, it's awesome. And I don't use that word lightly!
This is not about hunting or personal protection, it is about keeping the government from ruling over us and taking our liberty and rights!
"The Second Amendment provides Americans a fundamental right to bear arms that cannot be violated by state and local governments, the Supreme Court ruled". (By Robert Barnes and Dan Eggen Washington Post Staff Writer

A bunch of good insights here. Every one of these brutal dictators
is responsible for the murder of thousands to millions of
people. Every one of them started by taking guns away from the
citizens of their countries. By taking their only means of protecting themselves they were made subjects rather than free citizens. GUN CONTROL is not about guns, it's about CONTROL.
